PostPanic presents: The PanicRoom #7

Line up: LERNERT & SANDER, KRISTOFFER BORGLI & ANDREW T. HUANG

10 MAY 2013, AMSTERDAM, NEDERLAND
Summary
Things are gearing up here at PostPanic for the 7th edition of our inspiration night The PanicRoom on May the 16th, starting 19:30 at the Westerdoksdijk 599-601 in Amsterdam. With an amazing line-up of speakers - Lernert&Sander (NL), Kristoffer Borgli (Norway) and Andrew Thomas Huang (USA) - it's set to be an interesting night, with support from host Fons Schiedon, music master Philip Oomen from Massive and exhibiting artists Sjors Vervoort. The PanicRoom is an invite-only evening.

The PanicRoom is a bi-annual inspiration night created, curated and hosted by hybrid production company PostPanic. First launched back in 2009, The PanicRoom is our way of bringing together like-minded souls to find out what makes extraordinary creatives tick. The PanicRoom’s home is with PostPanic in Amsterdam but it’s also beginning to be exported around the world, having started with ‘The PanicRoom: Mexico Edition’ in 2012 and next stop Melbourne in November 2013.

Fuelled by Jamesons Whiskey and good food, a PanicRoom night is an opportunity to learn what makes creatives from various back- grounds tick - it is most definitely not a portfolio night. Each event features 3 specially invited speakers, chosen by PostPanic because of their inspirational work. They are choices made regardless of whether they are actual business competitors of PostPanic’s or not. This is because the aim of the PanicRoom is to share the subjects and peoplePostPanic find fascinating - it’s not about wheeling and dealing.

The last 6 editions have featured a wide variety of famous speakers from various creative disciplines. Whilst some are regular speakers on the festival circuit and enjoy the non-selling aspect of a PanicRoom, others agree to take part because of the relaxed, intimate nature of the evening. It’s also fair to say some choose to accept the invitation because of PostPanic’s standing in the industry and wanting to be exposed to our influential audience.
Audience members are invite only with a limited number of seats available so demand for tickets gets a bit frantic in the run up to a PanicRoom. Our regular guest list is made up primarily of senior creatives from Amsterdam’s advertising agencies and inter- national brands but we also run initiatives offering tickets to students and young creative talent. The most recent PanicRoom edition in Amsterdam saw Amsterdam Ad Blog giving away 5 tickets as a prize for lucky junior creatives.

Alongside listening to inspiring speakers, we also believe that a happy audience must be fed and watered and with this in mind, we have enjoyed continued sponsorship from Jamesons Whiskey who supply the drinks for the night. We secure a different caterer each time so they can wow the audience with their selection of delicious food for the night. The event is also  supported financially by Adobe.
Finally to add to the ambience, we invite creatives who might not normally be known for their DJing skills, to come and share their love of music in between speakers. Our gallery wall within the PostPanic space also features exhibitions and installations of creative work from either PanicRoom speakers or specially invited artists.

Speakers to date have included Shynola (UK), Pleix (FR), United Visual Artists (UK), Dvein (SP), Vincent Fournier (FR), Si Scott (UK), Niels Shoe Meulman (NL), Radical Friend (US), Lucy McRae (AUS/NL), Fons Schiedon (NL), Physalia (SP), BIF (FR/UK), HeyHeyHey (NL), Hecq (DE), Motionographer (US) and Alex Turvey (UK), Physalia (SP), Aaron Duffy (USA). All instructed to inspire and surprise an invite-only 120-strong audience consisting of Amsterdam’s key members from the advertising and creative communities. They each have 30 minutes to share all the things going round in their head - this could be bad album covers, youtube dance clips, snippets of history or just random images.
